On Tuesday, November 11th, Panquin Cemetery Association held a Veterans Day program to honor the veterans buried there, as well as the numerous veterans living in the community. Members of the cemetery board conducted the ceremony by providing some historical context of Veterans Day and noting the yellow flower we would be placing on the grave is for remembrance and appreciation of their service and dedication. We also continued the tradition of ringing of the bell 11 times to begin the ceremony. Veteran's Mike Bevel and Ronald Johnson called out the names of all 100 veterans buried at Panquin Cemetery and the event was closed in prayer.
We show our apprciation to the veterans each decoration day by placing an Amercian flag on their grave; we are very proud of all of them, living and deceased, for the commitment they have shown throughout their lives. (A few more pictures are below)

We want to thank Liberty Monument Company for donating a new sign to our cemetery! The eastern side of our cemetery (the newest section) now has a very nice sign at the entrance. We are so grateful to them and also proud of another enhancement to our already beautiful cemetery. Thanks again to Liberty Monument Company.

Ceremony Began at 11:00 CST
This was the first year that Panquin Cemetery was a part of the Wreaths Across America event. We were so glad to see all of the families and community to come together in honoring our veterans. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen, especially the Panquin board, Guntersville Scout Troop 4173 (Posting the Colors), Mr. Jimmy Bradshaw (Guest Speaker), Mr. Heath Clark (Video) and many others. We feel like the veterans buried at Panquin Cemetery got a little more honor bestowed on them this day.
Each Decoration Day, we place a small American flag on each veterans grave to show our respect and to give them the honor they deserve. We try to do this on Friday or Saturday before decoration so these flags are very visible during the decoration day activities. We are very proud of our veterans and the commitment they have shown throughout their lives.
We are so excited to announce another enhancement to the cemetery grounds. The pavilion has been upgraded! The cemetery board decided to update the pavilion to help preserve it's life and help to keep birds and wasp nests from forming. We hired a contractor to have vinyl siding to be installed underneath, on the gable ends and the eaves. We think you will like these changes as well. Drop by and see it when you get a chance.
The cemetery gets a new boundary fence installed! The west side of the property has had a fence/boundary line for many years and we wanted one for the east side as well. Maybe when funds permits we can get the entire back side fenced as well. We strive to keep our cemetery looking great!
A big "thank you" goes out to Justin Harding for the great aerial images of the cemetery. We appreciate the time and effort from him to get these for us. More of these images can be seen under the "Grave Locator" page.
